Bikash

His story

Born in 2000. Bikash’s mother is in jail. Bikash does not know his father because he left the family when Bikash was a small child. We rescued him and his younger brother (Rajib) from the central women’s jail this year. They both live in our Sankhu home and are adapting well. They visit their mother once a year in prison during Dasain (October).

His personality

Bikash is not a very talkative boy but is hardworking and helpful towards the other children in the house. He is applying himself in his studies and his favorite subject at school is Maths. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up. In his spare time, he likes to play football and cricket and enjoys reading story books, particularly those with lots of pictures.

Update 2012

I enjoyed spending time with Bikash. The rural setting of our Sankhu home suits him well. He is sporty and loves running around on the football ground with the boys his age. He enjoys the family envirnoment of all pulling together and helping out. Although he doesn’t talk a lot, he smiles a lot!

Sponsorship

Bikash is partly sponsored by Sujan Gurung, a Nepali living in NZ. We are looking for more part time sponsorship to cover the full fee. Please contact us if you would like to sponsor Bikash.
