Sajina
Her story:
Sajina was born in 2000. Her father is dead and her mother lives in the village Deurali. Her mother struggles financially to bring up Sajina and chooses to bring her to the city. Sajina has two little sisters who remain in the village and an older brother who is working as a house cleaner in Kathmandu.
Being part of the FCH family means Sajina is able to have an education and good nutrition, possibly avoiding slave labour or prostitution.
Her personality:
Sajina is very obedient, taking in the discipline of school life and the routine at the home well. She is very enthusiastic about school and her homework – she is top of her class! She plays well with the other children, especially Sarita and Laxmi, the two other girls her age. Sajina is extremely bright and determined, and loves drawing and dancing.
Update 2012
Sajina is no different – quiet, polite, intelligent and helpful. She loves her studies and finds it all very easy. Her exam results arrived yesterday – top of the class again! Outside of her studies, she is enjoying dancing for school events and taking taikwondo lessons three times a week at the home. Now that she is older, she is taking part in cooking and other crafts with the older girls. When I stayed with her, she braided my hair in the mornings and enjoyed sewing finger puppets. I asked her what she would like to do when she was older and she shrugged. She has plenty of time yet to decide!
