Santosh
His story:
Santosh was born in 2000 and comes from Manakamana village. His mother is dead and his father works at a river in Kathmandu as a labourer. We found Santosh and his older brother Aita hauling rocks from one spot to another at the river all day long. Their father is not able to bring up his sons for lack of money and quality time. When Santosh arrived at FCH he wore no shoes and had never been to school.
His personality:
Santosh is very clever, energetic and friendly. He likes people and enjoys Nepali folk songs. He also gets excited about playing games. Never a minute goes buy when Santosh doesn’t break into his cute smile. Santosh is very talented at tae kwon do and is doing brilliantly at school. He is extremely bright and can be a bit cheeky at times, keeping everyone on their toes.
Update 2012
From the moment I see Santosh I break into a big smile. He is always so charming and cheeky. Despite his maturity over the past year, he still has everyone smiling and wondering what he is going to do next. Santosh is at the stage where he is enjoying his image. He uses water to spike his hair and puts his collar up, he really enjoys getting dressed in the morning! He adores football and only wants to play football. When I gave him the opportunity to take up mountain bike riding he insisted he was only interested in football. When exams finished two weeks ago, he headed straight for the football ground. (They were not allowed to go while leading up to exams so they could spend time studying). Asked what he wants to do when he leaves school? Play football
Despite his athleticism, he continues to excell at school.
