Shanti

Her story:

Shanti was born in 1997; she lives at FCH because her mother, Mangali, is the orphanage ‘didi’ who looks after the children, cooks and cleans. Shanti doesn’t have a father.

Update 2012:

Super helpful Shanti is always putting others first. It is always so lovely to reconnect with Shanti, a happy easy going character who is enjoying school and loving her dancing. Recently she danced at Parents Day at school. Her cooking skills tickle my tastebuds… she is always in the kitchen helping out. Her helpful and calm nature will see her well in her choice of career. She wants to be a nurse. We are looking into the different options for her. Should she want to travel, there are scholarships available for a nursing school in Finland that runs specific programs for Nepalese people. We have put that to her to have a think about. Shanti and I had a lovely afternoon recently walking to the markets where she helped me buy a red sari for her mother.

She is good friends with Ranjana. She is doing really well at school – she is very responsible, gets her work done on time and understands that education will make a difference to her future.
