Sujan
His story
Sujan was born in 2000 and lives at FCH with his 2 sisters (Punam and Kalpana) and his younger brother (Kasmir). His father left the family years ago, leaving the mother no option but to go out and work – cleaning houses in the city from dawn ’til dusk.
Their mother, Mangali, has been sponsored by FCH since she was badly injured in an accident in 2008 which left her unable to work. She lives close to our home, so the children visit her often. The eldest brother, whom we do not know, is now a street kid resorting to drugs. We truly hope that by giving these children an education and love at FCH, they will not end up like their brother.
His personality
A very cute boy… Sujan is good at occupying himself, he often sits in a corner playing with a toy amusing himself but is also very social. He is very active and clever and loves the company of volunteers – he’s always the first one to get visitors to the home playing games with him and the other children. Sujan has improved a lot in his studies and is doing well both at school and at home.
Update 2012
Sujan is doing really well. He is a lot more focussed on every task from school to taikwondo lessons. He really enjoys football and joins the big boys at the football ground on Saturdays when there is no school. Sujan likes to help around the house and has become less demanding of volunteers to pay him attention. I see this as a maturity that comes with the love and support of being in the Firefly family. He is a good friend to new children in the orphanage and nurtures where he can. I really enjoyed spending time with him.
Sponsorship
Sujan is sponsored by Nick & Yoshie Latimar from Japan and Raf Manji and family from Christchuch, New Zealand. Please contact us if you would like to enquire about part or full sponsorship of another child from our home.
